About

You have lived inside this.

Dr. Rehana Meghani

The Story

You have lived inside this. In friendships where you gave more than you got back. In workplaces that asked for loyalty and gave you exit instead. In relationships where you built the container and they showed up as guests. In a family system that needed you to be the strong one. The settings were different. The training was the same.

I know this because I have spent years working with this part of people, and yes, with my own.

There is a version of me that looked completely fine for a long time. Competent. Credentialed. Functioning. And underneath all of it, the same part many of my clients carry, the one who had spent decades being trained to make itself smaller so that other people could stay comfortable.

That is the part I am now learning to retire.

Not cleanly. Not quickly. I am still in the work, and I will be for the rest of my life. That is not a flaw in this practice. It is the bone of it. The clinicians I respect least are the ones who think they have arrived. The ones I trust most are still doing the work in real time, alongside the people they serve. That is the version of me that shows up in this practice. Not the polished one. The honest one.

I do not share any of this for sympathy. I share it because it is the foundation of everything I do clinically. I understand the gap between how people look and how they actually are. I understand what it costs to hold everything together when everything is falling apart. I understand what it actually takes to rebuild, not from a textbook, but from a lived record. That is a credential no degree can give.

There is a sentence I keep coming back to. It is the engine of everything I now do.

I will never give my son a mother who makes herself smaller. And I will not help anyone else’s child grow up watching a parent make themselves smaller either.

That is what this practice is for. To help you live in a way that heals the part of you that learned to be smaller. Not in a way that keeps it in charge.

The Work

I am a clinical and organizational psychologist with over ten years of experience across three domains that most practitioners work in separately.

In the therapy room, I work with complex trauma, coercive control recovery, narcissistic abuse, covert narcissistic relationship dynamics, attachment injury, anxiety, panic, and the quiet crisis that high functioning people carry beneath their competence. I am EMDR certified and trained in somatic therapies, CBT, DBT, and Gottman Method couples work.

In organizational settings, I work with leaders and teams on the psychological dimensions of performance, culture, and burnout. I hold a PhD in Applied Organizational Psychology and have spent years helping organizations understand that what looks like a performance problem is often a people problem, and what looks like a people problem is often a trauma problem.

And then there is the neuroscience. My training in QEEG assessment and neuromodulation gives me a particular relationship to what your nervous system is doing. Not as an abstract concept, but as something I can be curious about with you in real time. The body keeps the score. The brain adapts to chronic stress. Brain waves change shape under sustained pressure. Once you know what your nervous system is actually doing, you can ask the only question that matters: what triggered this, and what would heal it?

I love data. I trust evidence. I believe healing is a measurable, biological process, not just a feeling. The neuroscience is how we make the part of you that has been running the show visible, so you can stop being run by it.

Most practitioners work in one of these domains. I work across all three at once. That intersection is where the real answers live, because what hurts you in one part of your life is rarely confined to it.

The Approach

I do not separate the personal from the professional. They never were separate.

The leader who cannot stop micromanaging has a nervous system story. The parent who loses it every evening after holding everything together all day has a window of tolerance story. The high achiever who cannot rest without anxiety has an attachment story. The senior executive who keeps building toxic teams and cannot understand why has a family of origin story they have not yet been asked to look at.

My job is to help you see all three layers at once: who you are, where you came from, and what is keeping you stuck right now. Then we work with all of it, without rushing you, and without offering you tools that do not account for the complexity of what you are actually carrying.

Forthcoming

I am writing a book about the dynamics nobody could name for me, until I named them for myself. It is the work behind the practice. It will be out when it is ready.

Credentials

A Note on Where I Work

I hold active clinical licensure in Alberta, Canada and Dubai, UAE.

My clinical practice in Calgary runs through Positive Strides, where I serve as Clinical Director. My Dubai clinical home is Connect Psychology. My organizational work, speaking, consulting, executive coaching, and corporate workshops, is offered directly through me, by inquiry.

drrehana.com is not a clinic website. It is the platform that holds it all together, the writing, the speaking, the consulting, the clinical work, the eventual book, under one person and one body of thought. If you are looking for a directory listing, you are in the wrong place. If you are looking for someone who will actually see you, you are exactly where you need to be.
